Under the Sea friends!

This cupcake tree was made for a birthday party that included 4 year old twins and their six year old sister. I loved the all the colors in this one and my favorite sea creature was the octopus. The three birthday girls got their own jumbo cupcakes with dolphins on them, each adorned with their cute little party hats! Hope they enjoyed them! TFL!

Frog the Firefighter

This was a cake I made for a wedding. The groom's nickname is "Frog" and he is a volunteer Firefighter.

The cake is a cream cheese pound cake with cream cheese icing and  it was all hand carved. I built the facial features up using fondant underneath. The hat is all fondant and i freehanded the design on the hat with yellow royal icing.  Everything on the cake was edible. TFL!

Hi All,

  I know I haven't posted many pics lately, but don't get discourage, I have actually been busy with the last few cupcake and cake orders I have booked. I have decided to only make cakes and cupcakes for my family instead of all my friends, and their friends, and then their friends....etc.

As much as I love to bake,  I have started to take on more hours at work, I also have a beautiful family to take care of and alot of laundry that never seems to get done, so with that, I have decided to scale back just a bit so I could do all of these things a whole lot better.  So what does this mean for you? Well, for the last year and a half I have been searching the internet as well as cake sites to learn all that I can about  cake and cupcake decorating and I also have my own little techniques to share with you. I have never taken any courses on cake decorating but I feel there is alot I've learned just by doing and I would love to share that with you. So please be looking for my new name and blog site to come very soon where I will share with you what I have learned thus far! Thanks for  all your support! Tammy 

Rock Star Cake

This is a cake I made for a birthday party for two boys. The cupcakes were purchased from the grocery store by my friend since they needed so many. I love the bling they put on them. The cupcake tree was actually decorated by Angie and Patricia (same two people who put the awesome tea party together). They used a belt they had purchased from Wal-mart and cut it to fit around the edges and then added a chain around each section. It turned out perfect!

So, about the cake, the cake was 5-6 layers of vanilla with vanilla buttercream and then overlayed in black fondant. I cut out flames free-hand from white fondant and then hand painted using red, orange and yellow food color mixed with almond extract.

The hand was molded out of fondant but I should have used a fondant/gumpaste mix because it was so heavy and wanted to fall on itself (if that makes any sense). Anyway, after the hand dried, I wrapped a black piece of fondant onto the bottom of it for the bracelet and then added the spikes. I thought it would look cool if I made a piece of metal out of fondant that looked like it was screwed into the top of the cake. I think it turned out pretty awesome. But nothing compares to how awesome this party was. Angie and Patricia never cease to amaze me, or anyone else for that matter! Here are pics and details below for your viewing pleasure.

The ice bucket was decorated using part of a belt, kid friendly sushi was served (rice crispy treats covered with fruit roll-ups and sprinkled with pieces of licorice). All the food had cardstock guitar labels with food descriptions. Each table had a gift bag stuffed with tissue paper and fake microphones that were glued to floral sticks. Neon necklaces were also sticking out the bags along with dollar signs. Plastic inflatable guitars were hung from the ceiling throughout and all the chairs had handmade decorations on the backs.  They had a D.J. and the kids danced and played the whole time.     There was alot more food that I didn't get pics of since the lights were turned down, but trust me when I say,"THiS PARTY ROCKED!"

 

 

 

 

Elvis cake for Michael

 This cake was made for my brother Michael. He loves Elvis, so my Mom decided to have an Elvis themed party. Elvis was made by using fondant and unfortunately I have been learning the hard way that figurines need to be made using a mixture of gumpaste and fondant (1:1). He fell apart when I put him on the cake, so I had to remake him using the GP/fondant mixture. In the end he turned out pretty good and actually stood upright. I painted gold onto his outfit using luster dust mixed with almond extract and then I added some gold disco dust to make it sparkle.

  

The record is fondant with a disc in the middle that I painted using the luster dust and extract. Yhe Elvis letters were also fondant and I used some cookie cutters I had received as a Christmas gift a few years ago.

Fishing Cake for "TY"

 

This cake was for "Ty" who turned five. They had a fishing party at our local park where the kids can actually fish in the pond. The guest even got their own fishing tackle boxes to take home. They were filled with gummie fish, plastic sharks and other fish related items. I wish I had my camera so I could have taken a picture of them.

The cake is all vanilla with vanilla buttercream tinted brown. The bottom is a 10" and the top is a 6". I maee the toppers out of fondant. I think my people are getting a bit better as I go. Practice makes perfect (okay, maybe not perfect). I definitely need to work on the feet and hands a bit. I bought the Chocolate Boulders a few months ago from HERE. They turned out to be perfect for this proect. You get a bunch and they work perfect for these types of cakes. Anyway, the only thing not edible is his fishin' pole.

 

 

Rockin' "B" Ranch Cupcake Tree

 

This was a cupcake tree for a grooms cake. The groom works on a ranch breaking colts, and cuttin' hay and I am sure many other duties. The ranch logo is the letter B on a rocking chair so I made it as the centerpiece. The horse heads were made from using this awesome product that is so simple to use. I will give you a tutorial on that later. Everything was handmade and is edible. The cake and cupcakes are vanilla with vanilla buttercream. TFL

Olivia The Piglet Cupcake Tree

 

This was the first time I had ever heard of Olivia the Piglet. I made this for a a first birthday and the birthday girls name was also named Olivia! Everything was handmade from fondant and is edible. The cake and cupcakes are all vanilla with vanilla buttercream. TFL

Spongebob Cake for Mykah

 

This cake was made for one of my coworkers grandsons who was turning two. The pineapple was a vaniila cake with cream cheese icing. And the bottom cake was chocolate with cream cheese icing. Everything on the cake is edible and was handmade. My 6 year old son said if it were his cake, he wouldn't want to eat it so he could save it forever. It is great having kids so I can get their opinions. I think I may drive them crazy with the "are yousure it's okay?" questions. I know it drives my husband insane.
