This was a very special cake I had the priviledge of making in memory of a little girl named Sarah. Unfortunately Sarah was only a day and a half old when she died of a genetic heart defect. Her mother asked if I would make a cake for their March of DImes team party. They have walked every year for seven years now in memory of Sarah, but also to help raise money so that other babies can live. Here is a site that you can visit if you would be interested in donating to such a worthy cause. I figured a garden theme with butterflies would be perfect since they represent new life and beauty. I'll admit I have alot of practice to do on faces, but practice makes perfect. THis traveled all the way to NOrth Carolina so I wasn't able to get a picture of it all put together on the tree.
This was done for a baby shower and yes everything on the cake was molded by hand and is edible (including the ark). This was very time consuming but the end product was well worth it. I put rainbows on some of the cupcakes as well. The cake is vanilla with raspberry filling and cream cheese icing and the cupcakes were chocolate with cream cheese icing and vanilla with raspberry filling and cream cheese icing.
This was a baseball cake that I made. The baseball and bat are all hand molded fondant. Everything on the cake is edible. The mini cupcakes were arranged on a placemat by Jackson's Mommy. Vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream. Cake is vanilla with vanilla buttercream. I loved the fact that the birthday party was at the baseball field!
This was my Poppy's favorite cake - German Chocolate. Unfortunately he passed away last week and we will miss him deeply, but it is great to have such wonderful memories of him. One of my many memories of him is the fact that he loved German Chocolate cake. My Nana would always bake him one for his Birthday and she would make the icing from scratch. I have been wanting to make German Chocolate cupcake so this seemed like the perfect time. It is so moist and delicious. There is such a big difference when the icing is from scratch instead of from a can. Sorry about the picture but I couldn't resist eating this one. This is definitely on my "A" list.
