Sarah's Garden

Sarahs_garden_2 This was a very special cake I had the priviledge of making in memory of  a little girl named Sarah.  Unfortunately Sarah was only a day and a half old when she died of a genetic heart defect. Her mother asked if I would make a cake for their March of DImes team party. They have walked every year for seven years now in memory of Sarah, but also to help raise money so that other babies can live. Here is a site that you can visit if you would be interested in donating to such a worthy cause. I figured a garden theme with butterflies would be perfect since they represent new life and beauty. I'll admit I have alot of practice to do on faces, but practice makes perfect. THis traveled all the way to NOrth Carolina so I wasn't able to get a picture of it all put together on the tree.

Poppys Favorite cake

German_chocolate This was my Poppy's favorite cake - German Chocolate. Unfortunately he passed away last week and we will miss him deeply, but it is great to have such wonderful memories of him. One of my many memories of him is the fact that he loved German Chocolate cake. My Nana would always bake him one for his Birthday and she would make the icing from scratch. I have been wanting to make German Chocolate cupcake so this seemed like the perfect time. It is so moist and delicious. There is such a big difference when the icing is from scratch instead of from a can. Sorry about the picture but I couldn't resist eating this one. This is definitely on my "A" list.

Caramel Apple Cupcakes

Caramel_apple This is another new flavor I wanted to try. The cake is spice cake with apple filling baked in the center and then topped with vanilla buttercream and drizzled with caramel sauce. I tested it out on the family and they all loved it.
