This was sooo.. much fun! I loved trying to make this cake look like the real thing. My friends daughter was turning 15 and she wanted to suprise her with a cake that looked like the Guitar Hero video game that she loves to play. The cake is chocolate with chocolate buttercream and then covered in black fondant. I hand cut the Guitar Hero and flames from fondant and then painted them. everything on the cake is edible.
This was for a wedding shower. I wanted it to look like the back of a wedding dress. The brides mother was throwing a brunch for her daughter and wanted something in champagne and pink with a vintage style. I used edible pearl dust to give it an aged and shimmery touch. The cake was vanilla with raspberry filling and cream cheese icing. The cupcakes were vanilla with vanilla buttercream and chocolate bliss with almond icing.
I have been wanting to make this flavor cupcake for a while now and I finally got a chance. I was making some for my daughters school for teacher appreciation week and I thought I would give this one a try. The cake is chocolate with cherry chunks in the center and then topped with almond icing then drizzled with chocolate ganache and finished with a cherry on top. I loved these and so did my kids. Hopefully the teachers enjoyed them too.
This was my first three tiered cake I had ever done. The bottom is a 10" vanilla with vanilla buttercream icing, the 8" tier is chocolate with chocolate ganache, and the top is 6" vanilla with vanilla buttercream. Al lthree tiers were covered in fondant. Everything on the cake is edible (including the figures on the top). I joke that I had to "call on Jesus" to help me make him. It was not easy, but I love a challenge. This cake feeds 55-60 people.
