This cake was made for my brother Michael. He loves Elvis, so my Mom decided to have an Elvis themed party. Elvis was made by using fondant and unfortunately I have been learning the hard way that figurines need to be made using a mixture of gumpaste and fondant (1:1). He fell apart when I put him on the cake, so I had to remake him using the GP/fondant mixture. In the end he turned out pretty good and actually stood upright. I painted gold onto his outfit using luster dust mixed with almond extract and then I added some gold disco dust to make it sparkle.
The record is fondant with a disc in the middle that I painted using the luster dust and extract. Yhe Elvis letters were also fondant and I used some cookie cutters I had received as a Christmas gift a few years ago.
